families renew with the tradition of eating
meals together and to have the children
participate in the preparation of the meal. This
is a powerful tool against the problem of
obesity and malnutrition that sets children up
for misery at school, attention deficit,
sickness with missed days and serious health
problems later.
I designed Harmonie as a psychologist with a
long history of preparing gourmet meals
involving my entire family. My experience has
shown that unless parents can educate their
children’s palates through delicious meals, kids
will reject the food, particularly if it's
healthy. In the Pace of Provence recipes, I am
following the 2005 Dietary Guidelines based on
the latest scientific information, but that
doesn't mean that the food can't still be
delicious and easy to prepare.
You have the most influence over your
children’s habits. The earlier you start, the
better. You have the power to make healthy
choices or unhealthy choices. It’s basically
simple. But that does not mean it’s easy. The
big bonus is... by becoming involved in your
children’s health, it’s likely that you will
realize better health as well.
